Whiplash

Today’s screening is Whiplash it’s a good film, but today I don’t want to talking about the director, I want to talk about Tom Cross– the Editor.
Tom Cross is the master of the editing. Some obvious places: When the protagonist onto the stage, this part is ‘follow’ the protagonist from his back then switch to in-front of him the whole process is very smoothly
The car Accident: the whole process has a clip, But I think this is the most realistic scene of car accident I have ever seen.

At this part, J.K Simmons ask who is out of tone player. Some Editor will choose to use the shot which can shows Andrew’s reaction about it– he listened Fletcher’s words and looks nervous. It’s OK but it will interrupt the continuity of the film if the camera suddenly switch to Andrew’s face, therefore Tom Cross use this shot.Brilliant!

I can say that Tom Cross is the best editor I have ever seen(Except David Finch)
