Today we watch David Fincher’s ‘Zodiac’ This is a great film.
First, this is a film which is adapted from true events——Zodiac killings around the 1960’s to 1970’s, in the end of the movie, we can see ‘In 2004, the San Francisco Police Department deactivated their Zodiac investigation. Today, the case remains open in Napa Country, Solano Country, and in the city of Vallejo, where Arthur Leigh Allen is still the prime and only suspect’ which is mean this is an unsolved case, everyone can guess who is the criminal. The most big and important point in this film is mystery and suspense. There is no special shooting technique in this film, the director focus on the story and words,he hiding lot of foreshadowing in the main plot to create interest and to build suspense,it can be a thing or one word, for example, when Zodiac send the second code letter no one talk about it,but, at the end of this film,Graysmith’s son find it,Graysmith agencies it.another example that Graysmith said ” I need to know who he is,I need to stand there,I need to look him in eye and I need to know that it’s him.”then when Graysmith met Arthur Leigh Allen the only suspect,Graysmith look at him and Arthur’s smile become strange.why? Graysmith is the person who most familiar with Zodiac, did he ‘know that it’s him’? And why Arthur smiles strangely? Why him ‘suffered a fatal heart attack before the meeting could take place’ because he’s scared?
I like Zodiac because this is a film which is supported by the plot and words. This is a wonderful film, not too fancy, but its quality is good enough to withstand scrutiny.
