Today’s screening is Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. The film tells the story of Steve and his crews ‘adventure.

This is an interesting story, as a comedy movie, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou was hilarious and full of imagination. There is piracy, fraud, kidnapping and a lot of terrible things in this film. It has its own unique style–black humor, people laugh because of Steve’s bad luck.

The whole film has a very story visual style and color conflict. The story takes place at sea, which is mean there are lots of cool colors in this movie, Anderson uses Steve’s red hat and yellow trademark to make up this defect and keep the balance of color, also, as a comedy movie, those colors creates a sense of lively and witty.

In The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, the camera moves with the characters’ behavior, it shows us, an ‘intersecting surface’ about the characters’ life, they usually face to the us, let audience noted and knew the way that the character live and it will give the audience more directly visual impact.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou has a nostalgic style, except the reflection of color, the way that Anderson uses of music also show this point, he features many rock songs from the 80s, it gives a sense of melancholy to this film.

Anderson uses flashback and narration interposed to talk about this film, but, it makes me feel a bit of confused to this movie’s plot.
