Back Learning

I found myself with my camera and a 100mm lens in Richmond on a weeknight, in the city on a rainy day, and just off the train on a Saturday evening. Each time I realised I was keen to look around and see what there was to capture. Originally I had set myself the task to record the sound of my commutes each day for a week, but after 3 days of consistently forgetting, I decided to look for inspiration elsewhere. In my haste I just started taking photos on in Richmond one night without a goal and when I looked over them after, I saw a theme developing.

I decided that there are so many instances where lines were integral to the images’ compositions that I should continue with that focus. I realised when you framed images around lines, they not only because aesthetically pleasing, but interesting, either layered or single plain. You then could isolate the image’s composition or study the framing and the relationships of lines and other subjects depicted.
