The state library courtyard is full of interesting characters. If you wait there long enough you will hear many strange stories from lots of interesting people. Me and a group of people were filming the steps when his one man appeared. He was dressed head to toe in 2010’s streets wear, carrying alongside him a superhero-themed backpack with what sounded like a speaker playing music that fit the same theme of his attire. I didn’t expect much from this man. He was dressed oddly, not surprising thought considering we’re in Melbourne. He slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out a hand full of small white grains. Me and the people I was with were filled with confusion. What was the intent of this man sitting on the steps of the library? I was already paranoid enough keeping one eye on the man sitting and another on the security patrolling us, like vultures circling around a carcass. Without even a second to react these white pellets are being flown through the air aimed directly at our feet. I looked down at the scattered mess on the floor. My face was about to be filled with amusement thinking that this person failed at getting seed on us. But no. The flaps and coos coming from the pigeons and seagulls that occupy the courtyard got louder and louder as they flocked toward us. It all made sense, everything clicked as if a circuit had been completed. We were surrounded by the city fowl, nowhere to move with feathers filling the air around us as if it were snow. Never in my life have I seen such an evil and thought-out plan unfold.
