Influenced by The discipline of noticing

As i read the extract from John Mason, 2002, Researching your own practice: The discipline of noticing (London: Routledge), I learnt that they’re three main points in noticing:

  1. Noticing
  2. Marking
  3. Recording

As I pondered the many instances that i had noticed something, marked it down, and then recorded it was quite funny actually. Since, unknowingly i had been influenced by this action when finding influences for my Project brief 3. I had seen a video that used the equipment for an art form in explaining someones self portrait. I had then marked it down and worked on it using different techniques and results were: using my subjects love for painting to express her characteristics and qualities. This simple technique that Mason had talked about was used and i didn’t even know it. I really made me reflect on all the times this had happened. Everyone should really have a think!
