an organization founded for a religious, educational, professional, or social purpose.

So if we want to talk about institutions it could be said that a music label is a institution eg. XL Recordings. This music label in my opinion is one of the largest labels that has a diverse range of artists from all different countries. So many different sounds and technologies used in the creation of their music and all have different purposes. XL Recordings were founded for a educational and social purpose, to educate listeners into what music of the 21st century is and to bring people together within the music culture and society. With Radiohead, The White Stripes, Dizzie Rascal, Jungle, Adele, East India Youth all coming from this label when you look at the music these people create its totally different.

Jungle for instance, I recently bought their vinyl and they have XL RECORDS on the top of the vinyl in large letters identifying the institution once you see the product. This is a testament to what we know about institutions; which is that they like to be noticed and for everyone to know who they are. Also just like Branston and Stafford 1999 said, employees and people associated are expected to share values and the public is aware of the status of the institution.
