Favourite Media Moment

In our workshop, we were asked the question of what is our favourite media moment. Once I heard that, I instantly was thinking what part of the course did we enjoy and what was our favourite. But my class interpreted it as in, what was your favourite moment when you watched a movie, or a new poem came out, or television show. So I didn’t really know how to answer at all, cos you know when someone asks you what’s your favourite movie and then you have a total mental blank. Well that happened to me.

However after I had some time to think about it, I remember of all these different media moments that I had across all different mediums; such as television, film and music.

Television: This was for the third season for one of my favourite television shows “Silicon Valley”. This follows the high-tech gold rush of modern Silicon Valley, the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success. A comedy partially inspired by Mike Judge’s own experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the late 1980s.

Film: This was the release of the film “Room” about a child and adult trapped in a room and having to live their until the kid escapes and tells everyone the truth. Also being able to study the film “Zodiac” by David Fincher in Cinema studies. This was a highlight because I was able to get in close and personal with all the mis-en scene and meanings that are constructed throughout the film.

Music: This was for attending a very social media event called “Groovin the Moo”, which triple J hosted where it showcased many different DJ’s and bands. It went for 1 day and it was in Bendigo. Although this isn’t within the university degree field, it was actually educating in that I got to see how much social media advertising and marketing through all the different mediums is displayed at festivals these days. Since the rise of Instagram and Facebook or twitter its all about the tweeting and posting on these sort of site. Quite fascinating when you look at it in a 3rd person view, instead of your own.
