Sound Recording

In our Week 4 practical class we used some H2N Zoom Recorders and took part in a recording exercise, where we had to go an interview a partner about 1 of the three options:

  1. What I like about RMIT City Campus
  2. RMIT Library – different spaces and what you can do there
  3. My favourite place on/near campus to grab a coffee/bite to eat

They also wanted us to make sure that the background sound was minimal and there wasn’t a lot of muffling. As we searched for somewhere very quite we stumbled across Building 80’s staircase that rarely anyone used. It had an echo but that also helped the way the recording device was able to pick up our clear voices. Razor and I didn’t find it that hard to record or use the H2N, only that the level + pitch was hard to figure out and the volume ratio. Also being able to record good sounds that are atmospheric sounds, because it all just ends up being a lot of crackling/talking and cars.
