Media Texts at the State Library

On Mondays class we were given a sheet of paper and a location to go to, where we must look at the environment and work out the amount of media texts and material that is used for audiences. The area that my group and I had to venture too was the State Library – the place of study and lots of books. As Vodafone has become very generous in upgrading their phone plans to 10GB of data a month, i decided to show the people of the world (via facebook live stream) all of the media texts through broadcasting on a media device such as an iPhone. I know its different, but we thought our group should be unique. Besides the amount if house printed material such as books, magazines, and university thesis/textbooks, there were loads of print promotional material. Promoting different parts of Melbourne’s iconic areas such as galleries, exhibitions and they were promoting the state library’s facebook, twitter and instagram. In the front of the building there was also large promotion banners saying “come inside and discover”, which our group found very odd because we didn’t see why they needed to promote the state library when its already a very known/ succesful area. Inside there were also a lot of interactive media such as (tours, guides, ipads) which allowed the individual to take part in virtual or real life tutorials. As each library has their was didfferent media texts such as films, music (cds), and audiobooks. I did a sped up version of the 30MINUTE LIVE STREAM into 2 minutes if you wanted to watch it, and there may be some coarse language from others so viewer discretion is advised.  Click here to watch
