Screen Lab Post #5

Week 5.

This week consisted of a lot of different elements, including holographic light displays and different mediums in which we can experience galleries digitally. Famous museums such as The Louvre and the Guggenheim offer exhibits that focus on video that can be enjoyed from the centre of your own home.

The key learning from this week involved techniques for storytelling and creating an engaging online gallery. Watching ACMI’s video ‘Who is Alice? Curious interpretations of Wonderland’ showed me a different method in which story telling can be told. Adapting and changing narratives add an extra layer to an original plot. It gave me extensive interest into video art as a medium and how it can be distributed and displayed.

I began questioning ways that I could create and display my future works and how I would like it designed. I definitely found an interest in projected displays of video or even lights to create shapes such as White Night in Melbourne. It opened up a new can of worms for me to delve in and decipher my favourite methods.
