Through the creation of my film. I remembered one of my favourite films we watched in the early weeks of this studio. Sindha Agha’s film ‘How To Be Alone’ has really inspired me in ways where I can interact with inanimate objects to explore loneliness. She successfully documents her own life in her film ‘How To Be Alone’ but also subtly attaches smart factual information. I am a bit worried that due to not including these educational tidbits in my film that I am straying away from documentary styles, but as I progressed my film and my audio I found myself answering my own interview.
Her film style through using short, sharp cuts and incorporating digital drawings are techniques I wanted to include in my own film. I started testing around with some effects and drawing on images and videos and found that I thoroughly enjoyed using these overlays. I love the uniqueness of animated drawing upon visuals to enhance the film and make it that little bit more entertaining.
Attached are some outtakes from my film that involve these digital drawings.
I experimented a lot with this style and have it flow throughout my film. Hopefully capturing this sense of loneliness and drowning. The scribble over my face characterises the dark feeling of loneliness and how it takes me to a dark place.
