With only one week left before we start production, what else could possibly go wrong?
Well, fortunately enough not a lot, but there’s always that one thing. And in this case, it’s securing a location. You would think that filming at your own university would be the more practical and time efficient idea considering the schedule we’re working on. But with only a couple of weeks left until the end of the semester – and the school year in general – with exams also coming up, just about majority of the university is booked. One of the areas that we found, which is one of the newly renovated spaces, was being worked on again so that was out. And the other rooms we had chosen were mostly booked by the time we checked their availability.
But as someone trying to be more optimistic, you at least have to try look on the bright side. And fortunately, we did find a find a room that had full availability – there are literally no bookings in it. So we decided to check it out and it could definitely work with what we were trying to go for.
With that done, a table read also took place with the actors. We decided that not everyone had to be present as it wasn’t going to be that productive if the camera, sound and lighting crew members were there. We decided to just have it with the director, producer, assistant director and production manager, as well as a writer, to be present. In the meantime, the rest of us headed to the location we were going to film in decided to do some plan some blocking in preparation for filming. I think that doing this would really helps us once we film because we had a chance to see the space we were working with, and considering the lighting equipment we were going to use which are much bigger than we had used in the pilot, we definitely had to prepare in advance to make sure there was still enough room for the camera and sound equipment, and of course, for actors to move around.
