No Offence

For this week’s workshop, we had yet another film fest of everyone’s third project brief and we had to give feedback on the work of the people in our table. So below is my feedback for the gals sitting on my table. (Click on their names to see their film portraits)

Jennifer — What I really liked about her film portrait was that it just focused on her friend’s career in fashion. I also really liked this one part of her film where her friend was showing different outfits that she put together, and was using a sliding door to reveal them. It was quite engaging how the camera was in one position throughout this sequence, hence the simple cut transitions between each outfit was done smoothly. // My only suggestion for next time would have to be adding a small snippet of an on-cam interview as the entire film portrait was done with voice over.

Even — What I liked about her film portrait was that she had inter titles of the questions that her subject was answering so it was clear what her subject’s responses were aimed at. // My only suggestion would have to be to maybe add a variety of shot angles when interviewing him instead of just having one mid-wide shot of him sitting in front of the camera.

Vicki — What I liked about her film portrait was that it included subtitles of what her subject was saying as she was speaking in another language. I also like how her subject spoke in a different language as it made it more authentic in a sense. // My only suggestion would have to be to use a different colour for the subtitles as yellow is a bit hard to read sometimes.

Gloria — What I liked about her film portrait was also the use of subtitles as her subject also spoke in a different language, and also the use of mixed media. It was a nice balance between moving images and still images. // My only suggestion would have to be to make the subtitles a little bigger as they were quite small and sometimes hard to read.
