Last night (Wednesday before Thursdays submission day) Claudia and I spent the night in the editing suites putting together our film. But we weren’t the only ones. Luckily for us Bonny, Shannah and Judrina were in the same boat. It struck about 9:00pm and Clauds and I were starting to lose our minds, we were hungry, tired and trying our absolute hardest to stay on track and get the project done as soon as possible. I was thinking about how we hadn’t received any feedback yet as we’d failed to meet the deadlines and send our work to Kim. A thought suddenly struck me, I knew the other girls were talented and not afraid to speak their minds. So I shyly asked them if they’d be kind enough to give up a few minutes of their time to watch what we had done so far and give us some feedback. The wonderful wonderful girls were all too happy to do so and boy oh boy was I glad I asked because their feedback was amazing. Clauds and I had already watched and listened to everything so many times that we no longer could see the bigger picture. We needed fresh eyes to tell us what was good and what wasn’t. Their feedback included things surrounding audio, colouring and much more. They spent about 20 minutes in our suite showing us little tricks to edit audio and what they thought our most powerful images were etc.
Prior to asking for this feedback Clauds and I were a little lost. We’d just finished putting together all the B roll and cutting all the audio and weren’t sure what to do next. I honestly think that the project was very different before the feedback. We really took what they said on board and it gave us new motivation for the editing process. By the time the clock struck midnight I was genuinely proud of how far we had come in so little time.
I’ve never loved feedback as much as I did in this moment, and I could not thank those lovely girls enough for the help they gave us in a time of absolute need.
Here is a little bit of footage I took on Snapchat after Claudia and I both stuffed up majorly because we couldn’t concentrate anymore so we took a little karaoke break. How’s this for a production shot! So privileged to have been able to work so closely with both the other group of girls and Claudia on this night.
