This studio wasn’t my first choice but was a very close second. Not only would it help with my social skills (interviews are my worst fear), it’s still appealing to my interests in editing and working with small groups.
Editing has become a very big focus for me for this degree since I feel like I am fairly proficient with it, and I enjoy it more so than most people. In this studio, since we’re working with small groups, I can volunteer myself for this line of work, as well as practice other fields such as direction, production and sound.
Although I’m not particularly enticed by contemporary art, doubled by the fact that I have no experience with this genre of art, it broadens my horizon to multiple perspectives that contemporary art plays with.
We have worked with portraits before last semester, but since it feels like we’re working out of commission, it’s a tad more professional and intimidating. I hope that I can get used to a more professional environment with this studio, and my skills will be tested at a more certified level.
I also found that after the first class, I am not acquainted with anyone. My social abilities will be tested, and hopefully I can make friends or at least open up possibilities for future projects. Already made a few acquaintances, so I hope that this helps and improves my overall university experience.
