This week’s reading was an interesting take on how we use editing in many forms of media…
When I first read ‘Blood in the Gutter’, I was confused how this could be related to our learning. I could see the connections it was making in terms of how editing is being used through comics and/or film but it felt more oriented to film students, in terms of where this knowledge can be used. It was only until the workshop where I realised how it was being applied.
I do like how through the use of editing, omission of detail can be used to the creator’s advantage. By breaking a scene apart by leaving a certain perspective aside, the creator can create more texture to the story, like more suspense or not leaning towards the obvious.
