For my next investigation I wanted to start with the audio and layer that to create it’s own story without the images. I found this allowed me to focus completely on timing, tempo and rhythm of the audio story without trying to fit in images as well. I then layered images over the top to complete the third investigation clip that you can see in the next post. What I didn’t anticipate is what happened to the settings in premiere when I didn’t add footage to the sequence first and change the settings. After I had organised my audio and music when I tried to layer the footage I had problems with some of the settings and had to start another sequence, coping and pasting the audio track after I had added some footage to set the settings properly. Luckily someone was down in the edit suits as well because it was late at night and I had no idea what was going on.
Layering audio on its own too is a really good exercise. There is so much you can create without footage. I’m aware that my skills in all areas need to improve including my knowledge of options with the software, however I’m learning quickly and am pretty confident I will be in a good place with premiere by the end of the year.
