I liked Rachel’s part of the Lecture today on Collaboration and working together productively and respectfully. Basically telling us not to be arseholes as we have group projects coming up.
Knowing full well that the film industry is a collaborative one and looking forward to working that way, I did cringe at the thought of a group effort for our next assignment, worth 35-40% was it? I do love to collaborate AS LONG AS YOU DO WHAT I WANT BECAUSE MY IDEA IS BETTER THAN YOUR IDEA AND MORE EFFECTIVE THAN YOUR IDEA AND I’M DOING THE CREATIVE STUFF AND YOU WILL JUST HOLD THE BOOM…. Sorry. That was my control freak. She told me she was going to try and be good this year…
Can’t wait to meet my project partner! Really looking forward to PB 4!
I particularly liked the emphasis on being honest about where you are at in the course and what work load we can manage. So true! I think that’s hard for anyone to do this anywhere at anytime. But it ends up being so much easier. Lay it out on the table and let us control freaks take the reins.
I have been involved in a group outside of Uni that organises events throughout the year. In the last 4 months I have had an experience of working with a group of people who share common goals and equal enthusiasm. It’s incredible what we have achieved in a short time. We are on the same page (so far). One thing we decided early on is that we weren’t going to let resentments and anger towards someone else in the group prevent us communicating productively or achieving what we need to. So far it has been a wonderful experience and I’m glad we have been made aware of these tools before the next brief. Thanks Rachel.
