One idea which was introduced in this reading was Drama and the Three Act Structure. The ancient Greeks devised the three act structure which is a tool used to organise story elements. The three act structure is as follows…
- Act one establishes the set up. This includes characters, situations and the main problem the character/s will need to face.
- Act two heightens the complications the characters are trying to overcome.
- Act three intensifies the complication to the point of climax or confrontation. This is followed by a resolution which does not necessarily have to be happy so long as it still satisfies viewers.
This is the basic structure of numerous films.
