Demo Reflection

Overall I think we did a pretty good first demo with the structure and content. We used a few pre-recorded interviews and artistic pieces from Jack, Kerri and Ed which helped us out a lot to develop a flow for the hour. We were lucky enough to be able to view Ed’s old running sheet and this helped us out a lot in creating the times and flow of the show.

The technical fluency was probably the one we need to concentrate the most on as we need to spend more time in the studio as a group playing around with the panels and getting to know everyone’s talking levels and tones. There were a few moments of silence and a few moments where microphones weren’t on. I’ve noted these on the soundcloud clip in comments. I don’t think this is anything to be too concerned about it, it’s just something that, with practise, we’ll flesh out and practise with make the flow more natural. Also I think the technical fluency has a lot to do with knowing the content and the music. We had a few practises where wrong songs were played or we thought they had finished when it was just a dim in the middle of the track and this is something that will be figured out if we’re playing songs we’re familiar with.

I think the presentation of the show was generally pretty good. The rapport and switch between presenters seemed natural and fluent. I think this is in thanks to having the running sheet in front of us all so we can all see where we are up to and what comes up next. With the creating our own and getting to know back to front our content will come a more confident show. Our presenters did really well in this demo but there are times where you can hear the uncertainty in their voices and that is purely to do with not knowing the music, albums or familiarity with the pieces and interviews.

Altogether, the structure of the demo is really good and I think we’ve placed the pieces, advertisements and tracks in great spots and it creates a smooth flowing show. There’s an even balance of pieces and music and nice amount of connecting commentary from the presenters.
