In this scene, it starts the first wild shot with moving sea waves on the beach, it tells the viewers the place, Hawking’s family and their friend have been in the beach. The whole scene is in a warm tone, which may make viewers feel harmonious.
The second shot moves from Hawking to Jonathan, it shows Jonathan is helping Hawking towards to the beach, meantime, Hawking’s wife Jane and daughter Lucy is already playing on the beach, this scene also give viewers some part of surroundings.
Then the scene jumps to the playing mother Jane and daughter Lucy, they are playing water. because of father’s illness and mother’s friend Jonathan is taking care of father, it may be one of the few times they can play without taking care of their father.
this shot is focusing on Hawking’s foot, he has not been touching to the sea since he wa sick, Jonathan askes him “chilli?” and Hawking’s answer is “perfect”, this also shows Hawking is enjoying.
this wild shot is Jonathan filming Hawking’s famaily, but at the same time it also shows Jonathan is doing things a father should do but Hawking cannot do. this could be an evidence that the reason why Jane wants to devoice with Hawking, Jane as a woman can not do all the things to the famaily.
this is an objective shot from the camera, they are feeling so happy at that time, camera will record all the happy time for them.
the shot jumps to the lonely Hawking, a wild shot shows he is sitting alone by the sea, and Jane and Jonathan is palying with the children at the same time, Jonathan does the things like a father, and Hawking only can sit by the sea. from these shots, I do can feel that director is showing us the advance notion that how Jane and Hawking’s relation will be in the end.
Another obejective shots from camera which is shot by Jane, we can Jonathan is helping Hawking all the time, this shows Jonathan is a very good men. he does not care about Hawking’s illness and treat him like a father treat his child. All Jonathan’s advantages is attracting Jane.
The final shot in this scene is a very harmonious shot, childrens are playing, adults are sitting together talking and relaxing, this is a wild shot to end the whole scene.
