A Continuous Work On Screen Project 2 –
What Is Time?
Title: The idea of time
Reference Idea:
Wavelength (1967) by Michael Snow
Interstellar (2014) by Christopher Nolan
Grandfather clock(2014) by Maarten BAAS
Concept: Slotgen – #untouchable #unrealisable #invisible #instant #limitless #even just a moment?
It seems like we have had the concept of timing since we were born into the world. With the flowing of time, we have individual ideas on the definition of time, from routine lives – 6 a.m alarm clock to missed out a bus, we all are chasing and being pushed at the same “time”.
Sounds
Sounds in Wavelength (1967) seems to represent the concept by adjusting from a low-frequency to high-frequency sounds. End up, when the sound is reaching the level that normal human cannot hear it, the scene feels like a loop and returns to the beginning of the video. Dramatically, the “clock” is also a cycle, from 1 to 12 then back to 1 again unlimitedly (Refer to the digital medium – Grandfather clock in NGV).
Double exposure
#Space Double Exposure #Visual Double Exposure
Double exposure: a cinematography technique: in my opinion, is understood as the narrative happens at the same time, more specifically, it may be space, time, or even multiple completely different things combine together slowly.
