Last week, I became interested in investigating rain – and other the past few days i have decided how if i were to use rain as the theme of my project, how i would do it.
What you were thinking of researching –
I was thinking of researching the theme of rain in film. Last week, my group studied this is our exercise and it came across well and left me wondering about the importance of rain, why and how it is important in film, what it conveys, and what it does.
What you are making –
I believe making this project a series of shots or/and an investigation is a strong idea. I can research how rain is used in film, why it is, what it means/is used to convey and how it enhances/worsens a quality of film or shot. The series of shots could also look at how editing changes the way rain is seen, and what different types of editing does to the shot when rain is involved.
What you will be talking about in the pitch –
In the pitch i can show some shots i have taken and discuss what rain is used to convey in film, including the emotions it conveys, and what it means. If i do an investigation of rain i can use evidence and explain to the audience what i have learnt, also showing them a sequence of shots I have taken with rain.
How you might go about making it –
I would film more rain sequences, have around a dozen or so shots, potentially edit them and play with them to see if they change and tell a different story. I would use rain as a central character of each shot, and after investigating the quality of rain, put into practice what I have learnt and show the class.
- maybe show a slideshow of what i have learnt/ different rain in film scenes and then show the shots i will do
- speech and shot the sequence of shots
