Today we were discussing our group project, my groups central media idea is mediums.
To say i’m confused is a bit of an understatement. I’m sure after more meetings, research, and discussions i will grasp what this project is asking us to do.
Today we were brainstorming several media mediums such as film, audio, and texts. We each were assigned an area to focus on, but we really wont be able to until we meet next and all fully understand what we want the project to be. So today we were working on our collaborative contract, and finalised that because that had to be completed by week 8. We also have to find 5 annotated bibliographies each by next week, each writing a total of 1200 words on them.
We thought to connect all the mediums we were discussing, we needed a common ground to work off. The news is shown and discussed on all media forms in different or similar ways. We thought using a news story and seeing how different media forms respond would be a good way to discuss the similarities, differences and interesting features of mediums.
We chose the Germanwings plane crash to discuss, as there are several sides of the story which will reflect well on how media forms deal with breaking current events.
