Aims: Week 3

TheĀ aims of True to Form is –

  • To be able to critically analyse, through the making of film and reflection on that traditional and industrial production methods.
  • To explore the possibilities associated with applying techniques and practices not typically used in the creation of the form being pursued.
  • To develop competency in production techniques and to think more expansively in relation to ongoing projects.

These aims are very important. It specifies that a filmmaker/ documentary maker needs to be able to analyse their work and other work in order to make the best quality content. It is important to be able to critically analyse in order to know how to work better in the future, and be able to critique others in a way which will benefit your future work. Learning is a huge part of this course, as filmmaking is about learning about filmmaking. People are constantly learning, regardless of where they are in their career or their work. A filmmaker must also be able to explore techniques and be creative through their filmmaking in order to make something which is exciting, different or engaging. This is done through gaining competency in production techniques and having the confidence to think expansively.

Over the past year, i have taken photos which i believe represent the aims of this studio. These photos explore editing techniques, as each photo has been edited, with highlighting, and the exposure and focus changed. Each shot is taken with a different camera, two are taken on different iPhones, one on a DSLR and one on a disposable camera. These shots all capture an aspect of life, an adventure and something meaningful to me, these shots are true to form.
