This week’s reading, “Blood in the Gutter” by Scott McCloud, is a comic describing comics. McCloud uses the idea of “closure” which means observing the parts but perceiving the whole to start the comic.

He uses the example of comics above to prove the aspect of closure. Between these two frames, there is a space for us to imagine what will happen. As he didn’t tell us who is screamed but we all know. This is what the comics tell the parts but we perceive the whole. So why is it so? McCloud has pointed out at the end of the comics that it is a little faith and a world of imagination.

McCloud also analysis 6 different kinds of comics where readers use closure through art and craft. The list is:

In conclusion, closure is not only use in comics but as well in all kinds of media. We are using closure everyday to make the life be more interesting but sometimes it may not work because it is all by our imagination.
