Egg Hunting #9 – Good vibes & Regrets (Pitch & Feedback)

We will be working on a music video for artist Joshua Bienstein, aka NeuMark, a young local artist. His music is influenced by the likes of (alternative) rock musicians such as Chet Faker, Matt Corby and Coldplay.

The song we will be working is called Good Vibes and Regrets.

Logline
A female protagonist listens to “Good Vibes & Regrets” which makes her mundane chores/activities less cumbersome while unbeknownst to her, jazzy NeuMark mystically appears and disappears to serenade her and the fourth wall.

The idea was inspired by the Korean pop idol B.A.P’s Stop It where the male protagonist mystically appears to the female protagonist but unbeknownst to her.

Locations/ Sets:

There are a few locations that we are going to use for filming. Most in-door filming will be done at Chloe’s apartment, such as the scenes at the home, pool, gym and spa. Outdoor locations include Fitzroy’s Expresso Car Wash and the Karaoke at La Trobe St.

Costumes/Props:

With regards to NeuMark’s costumes, he will bring his own swimming suit and smart-casual outfits. We already have the mechanic costume for him. The female protagonist’s costumes will be assembled by pulling our personal wardrobe items together, including gym wear, swimming costumes, smart-casual outfits and the cocktail dress. We will also use personal items for props such as the earphone, car, shades, snacks and drinks.

Budget:

We have most of our costumes and props for free. The main expense will be the booking of Karaoke room which costs $21 per person (for max. 5 hours) and $10 for Expresso Car Wash. We will set aside $15 for other (food) props. Hence the total budget for this production is roughly around $151.

Presentation Feedback

  • Fewer locations
  • Bulk shooting in one location (e.g. apartment unit)
  • Transportation and safety (equipment and people)
  • First verse, audience patient
  • Taking more shots out of fewer scene/locations
  • Take photos of sets. Come up with series of shot types for filming
  • Communicate with K-box (ask whether sponsor is possible)
  • Editing cut (cheating) rather than taking a car on the road, separate scenes: in car vs car movement
