After deciding on the theme of homeless, we started to research and brainstorm about the concepts and ideas. Then I found this feature documentary on homelessness called On The Streets which gives an intimate portrait of homeless life in the City of Dreams.

This documentary is a 12-part video series about homelessness in Los Angeles. It explores the reality of homelessness with different backgrounds and stories. There are people who is pregnant, who is getting his PHD, who is just a 18-year-old teenager. They live in a tent, a car or even just on the street. For them, homelessness is a state of mind and they all have a dream – home.

For our chosen song ‘Homeless’, the artist NeuMark gets inspiration from his past experience in uni life where going to RMIT for 3 years put him in the city every day walking by homeless people and seeing them get completely ignored by the general population or even avoided was a disgusting thought to him.

How does one find themself homeless, was it addiction? Was it illness or another affliction? Was it cause nobody was there to try and show you the way? Was it abuse or violence inflicted every day?

From the lyrics above, NeuMark thinks there are chances that those homeless are not lazy or have bad manner, they may have some hidden reasons. Hence, through this song, he wants the audiences to draw attention on those homeless people and help one another.

Getting inspired from the photographer Lee Jeffries (previous blog post), the documentary On The Streets and our artist NeuMark, I have many ideas in my mind right now and I think my group and I will produce a great music video on this theme.
