Part of our lecture today was about narrative structure. Narrative is a form of story. It is a way of telling an events and structuring meaning.
The key elements of narrative or story, as following:
- Controlling idea
- Character Conflict
- Structure
- Character change/ growth
One of the example in lecture was the film ‘Mistaken for Strangers’ by Tom Berninger. It was a documentary about himself and his brother, Matt. The film was not only filmed about the band of The National or Matt but also a portrayal of how Tom being like a shadow behind his brother. Tom shot the film from The National’s concert and presented a true story of life.
