Filming is on Friday and I need to decide on the lighting for this location. I’ve been so focused on trying to think of a choreography I almost forgot about lighting. Today I had to go to school at night after having dinner in the city in order to have one more look and start planning on them again. With one more look, I notice that there are actually a few pillars and a few background items I could add on to my choreography.
This is where the scene will start. Well, there’s basically no plot or storyline in what I will be shooting, but merely an experiment of both Jackie Chan’s fight style (choreographed fight scene) and Hollywood’s fight scene. This picture here is my introduction where two characters starts to rumble because of a trival matter (I have yet to figure out why they even start a fight). The lighting here seems ‘okay’ to the naked eye, but I will be having one led lighting placed on the bottom right corner of this picture, from the top, shining to the characters sitting on the small platform where the pillar is sitting. Since all the light is coming from above, I thought it would be a good idea to have a soft light shining from one side to the character’s face.
Here is where the two characters might be running around and the lighting here looks pretty good in my opinion. I think the light reflects perfectly well on the right side, but not on the left. I have not experiment this part yet but I will have to add a little shine to the left corner because I might want to make use of the yellow bars in the choreography.
The light here is too dark! However, it may not be a bad thing because it has this ‘tunnel’ vibe which I might want to give this shot a steady one of two characters running to the other side. There could be a little physical going on here but all in silhouette form (Hollywood movies such as Expandables loves this kind of contrast)
As for this last part, this place is wide and the light is distributed quite evenly. I’m not sure if lighting is necessary here. We will figure this out on Friday.
Overall, the place looks quite wide, and there are actually quite a couple of ‘built-in’ things to the settings that I might be able to play with in the choreography.
P.s – Also, I will avoid fighting near the car.
