Self Attempt Recording

There are two kinds of fight scenes;

The Choreography style and the ‘series of cut style’. Before I shoot anything, I have to try and experiment myself.

This is me catching a pen with my feet;

The first one is cut with a series of shots. Therefore I do not have to put any effort in practicing how to catch it with my feet. However, the second shows me catching it with one shot and hence I need to have a couple of takes in order for it to be perfect.

Personally, I like the second one way better because of its realism. I grew up watching Jackie Chan a lot and I am very inspired by his creations. His frame and his fight choreography is never cease to amaze me. Then I realised his frames and shots are done in wide angle shots because

1. Jackie can fight

2. The fight sequences are choreographed countless times

…whereas the Hollywood ones- the actors don’t necessarily know how to fight; and that is why they use series of cuts to ‘pretend’ they know how to.

Although these videos are not fight sequences, but they are to show two different kinds of framing.
