Most of my works are dark and abstract, it is not my strong suit to bring positive emotion such as joy into a video. This video also took me a long time to think of. So I started looking on YouTube to learn from other people’s film. I had my inspiration after I watched a Thai film called “Joy of Giving”. The film focused on the main character only and showed how much joy he feels when he helps people. There was not much conversation in the video, the scenes just focused on the main character’s facial expression when he helps others. I like the way it focused on the personality of the character, it has got a very clear theme and perfectly used body language, details and facial expressions to tell a story.

So I decided to focus on myself for my own video. I still used my favorite close-up shots in this video and combined both slow motion and time-lapse videos to include more diversity in the video. Comparing to the other videos in this assessment, this one looks very simple and short, but I like to keep it that way because I just want to show audience the things that can give me joy. Instead of a joy video, I have made it more like a personal video of mine, so it is hard for myself to define if it is a good or a bad video. But I believe I can come up with something better if I have been given more time to think about it.
