The box will be my last official studio, as I completed a studio over the summer. My expectations, like every other studio is to further my media practice. I felt that I lacked skills in the videography area and as a storyteller, I wanted to develop those skills. By the end of this studio, I want to know what kind of a visual storyteller I am and where I get my influences from. The process of having to reflect and write has enabled me to think deeply about ideas and the way my brain is wired to make something meaningful. I think the box studio will teach me about both storytelling and how to tell a story effectively, through the medium of video. Through Paul’s teaching methods, I expect to learn how to be a film maker of sorts in a non conventional manner. I imagine that typical film courses cover a lot of theory and the how tos when it comes to operating camera, but with our limited time we are forced to learn as quickly and efficiently as we can. This unconventional method has helped me discover what i like in media and what i don’t. After doing two studios based on documentaries, I discovered i had an affinity towards videography, people, places and the hidden stories.

In terms of technical competency, I expect to be efficient with premiere pro and my knowledge of editing to be bit more than the basics. While I think I know how to store data and create folders for everyday use, I would like to learn how to do so in premiere pro and specifically for video/editing.

Since I have a growing passion for film and videography, I would like to see if this is the path for me and I’m hoping this studio will pave the way. Most importantly though, I would like to enjoy this studio and produce work that is well thought and well made.
