My Synopsis

Mary & Max: 2009

Mary & Max is a beautiful Claymation written and directed by the Academy Award winning Adam Elliot. It tells the tale of an innocent pen pal relationship between two very different people that spans over 20 years. Mary is a lonely 8 year old girl from Mt Waverly who has a pet rooster, an alcoholic mother and loves condensed milk. Max is a 44 year old overweight New Yorker with Asperger’s syndrome, he too is lonely, obsessed with the lottery and invented chocolate hot dogs.
A story not only about a friendship that survives many hardships but one that explores our desire to be loved and accepted no matter how different we are. The film tackles many dark topics but the bittersweet character relationship and snippets of humour gives it an overwhelming sense of innocence.

Watch Mary & Max to be rewarded with something much more than pure entertainment, this simple tale of innocence will touch your heart and make you treasure the differences in those around you.
