My ‘’Unlecture’’ Brainwave

The third Unlecture provided me with a new outlook on education and independent learning.
I now strongly believe …
I am a reptile who must build my own knowledge and not wait for someone to fix my broken tyre.
We have reptilian brains that are instinctive and naturally develop a fight or flight instinct.
There’s no need to fight the subject, it is designed to help us fly.
Knowledge is not information, which Adrian insisted is the only thing he can provide us with in the lecture. It is up to us to construct and build our own knowledge, we need to remake things for ourselves. He will not be our shop assistant (although I’m sure he’d make an excellent retailer)
Nothing in the Network is one way flow, which is strange for me because I’m comfortable with being a sponge.
This can no longer be though, I am through with being an absorbent object.
No one else can do the thinking for us and we can’t be empty vessels waiting to be filled with knowledge.
Just like we can’t wait on the side of the road for someone to stop and fix our broken tyre (although I don’t know how to change a tyre, so I may have to let that one slide)
My main take from this lecture was that we are all learning.
Learning to be someone and someone different. Someone that will make an impact in the ambiguous world of media and this all starts with becoming responsible for our education.
