This week my group continued to add to our idea with Angus creating a vomit script, letting us see what our final product may somewhat resemble. Though I was unable to make it to Monday’s class due to dropping a box of milk on my foot, I was quickly caught up on Wednesday and could continue contributing to the film. In our discussions on Wednesday, we spent a lot of time focusing on getting the setup of the film right, with us going back and forth on what exactly the inciting incident and reason and continuing to brainstorm a fake drug name for our characters to take. Though our discussion often veered into irrelevant territories we were able to turn these discussions into possible conversations the characters could have in our film, which would help add an element of realism and believability to our film.
The element I most want our group to nail is making our short film not only funny but also look quite good, having drugs as a plot element usually lends itself to some unusual visuals which we discussed doing, such as using a green screen to create an uncanny effect towards the end of our film as the drugs reach their climax, these discussions have left me excited to start filming.
Overall this week was a pretty productive one, having a vomit script has been very helpful in imagining scenes and the structure of the film, which have made it far easier in coming up with new ideas for it. Our group all have a lot of chemistry and when we start talking about ideas it quickly becomes all of us throwing ideas back and forth, iterating on each idea which is very good thing to have, and leads me to believe that our final project will reflect this chemistry and be something we can all be proud of.
