This past week has been a doozy. Having accepted my fate and taking on the responsibility of recording the ambient sound and mixing all the tracks together I went head first into this.
Last Saturday, 18th of march, i headed into the park, In the Garden, to record sounds. multitasking and doing readings for other subjects it was a really beautiful way to reconnect with nature whilst also being marvellously efficient. Having record just about 2 hours of sounds in various locations and avoiding a, how should i say, affectionate couple, i decided to head home and do some initial mixing. by Monday i had the entire soundscape done without the words. I put this in my groups google drive and notified the others about it. getting good feedback was essential but i did allow for them to find faults if they wanted.
Tuesday we got together and made solid a plan for the spoken part of the soundscape. Joss, Julia and Jialu (Yes Julia and Jialu have the most similar of names) set off to record the sound after we finalised a script that Joss took the lead of. Wednesday i waited for the parts as they slowly trickled into my inbox and the google drive and this morning i put the final touches on the soundscape. I can work quickly on Logic Pro so i made sure my group didn’t rush or feel rushed. Having a list of 64 words made it important that i shave space in between words whilst making the sound still natural and that the embouchure connected to how we imagine the sahpe of the readers mouth to seem. This took a little while but eventually paid off when i got the scape to exactly 1 minute.
Now i write of my tale, of creation and cooperation, in class, to you.
