Ideas/ epiphanies and reflections: Week 6

I watched the godfather couple of weeks ago, ever since then i’ve been picking up bits of Italian around and i chuckle at the thought of jewellery and nice haircuts = 1950 mobsters.

So these randoms outside a gelato and next to it, 7 eleven. Talking with a touch of Sicilian accents, yeah the ones like in the movies. Conversing about their children or how good their ice cream is. I imagine the same faces ‘tawlking’ in a ‘new yooork’, ‘from da brooonxx’ having an arguement of the same descant. in my house i have a wooden round table and hovering is the ghetto table light, like in Fig.1

The idea is still in its elementary stages, so direction is still something to consider. but I think of Pulp fiction, and Tarantino loves put the most stale things to talk about with now legendary actors. Samuel Jackson, John Travolta, Umma thurman and the list goes on. They portray characters in a blasé manner for a minute then next scene they kill someone. Then go back to being normal citizens.

Reflections:
I made a point to wanna explore the world of cinema as ‘truth’. It is a follow up of las years ‘true lies documentary studies’. learning about cinema veritè and concepts like fly on the wall. I wish to mix both cinematic art and real life together. Or at least attempt to capture things in way that we naturally do. I’ve written down lengthier version, but its still under production.

Epiphanies;
In class, we talked about our project briefs. and people brought up some really good points that i never would have come across. the most interesting one was the point of music aiding the story telling. one of the girls mentioned that music should assist a scene/film but it should not have to re-itterate the meaning of the scene. So, in a way it should be treated as a new colour in the artist’s pallet. It should bring in a new meaning. Almost like juxtaposition.
