In week threes lectorial the lecture covered the explaining of project three, and explored the idea of Found Footage.
Similarly, this exploration of found footage built on a little prior knowledge which was given to me only weeks earlier in cinema studies when we looked at avant-garde film.
I find beauty in the idea of avant-garde’s use of found footage, and was really excited upon finding out that we must use found footage within our Project Brief three, So I will in light of the lecture use this reflective post as a brainstorm for possible idea of my project brief three.
One of the most powerful films I have ever watched was shown to me in Cinema Studies a few weeks back, the film The Illustrated Auschwitz is simultaneously one of the most beautiful yet confronting pieces of film I have ever seen, and since first seeing it, its resonance with me has been extremely strong.
And I could not begin to stress the need for all fellow media students to put aside 12 minutes of your time watching this film.
When constructing my Project Brief three this film has inspired me to look for reflective pieces of found footage which can in a different context be viewed in a very different light to the initial reception of the media.
My subject I hope to select based off of a personal journey of growth and I hope once selected I will be able to choose correlating media footage to both heighten and highlight the impact of the journey they have been on.
I want my subject to through this process gain a little personal closure, so now begins the insane mission of finding a subject, shooting a reflective commentary as I felt it worked well in my project brief two and constructing an intimate journey of my subject through a time which had the ability to make or break them.
