OUTTA MY HEAD

OUTTA MY HEAD

Tuesday’s class we studied Dawn Shadforth’s works. She’s one of the bigger names int he music video industry and has directed so many well-known pieces, which have made their mark on pop culture and the realm of music videos as we know it.

Kylie Minogue’s Outta My Head video is possibly my favourite video we have watched this week; it was particularly exciting for me as I love Outta My Head conspiracy theories.  Not that I believe them, I just find the correlation between the imagery used within Shadforth’s video and the attacks of 9/11 to be striking, and an interesting topic of discussion. This being said, I love the video regardless of the discourse associated with it. Firstly; again, the aesthetics are beautiful; Manogue looks incredible in each outfit, amongst the strange futuristic world Shadforth created. This video is iconic in so many ways, though my favourite shot has to be Kylie in the white number in front of all those people dressed in red, with masks on. I think this shot is also the most famous.

Hopefully, I will be able to make a video which is half as iconic as Outta My Head, and that has a strong aesthetic that is memorable.
