Following on from this week’s lectorial about looking at the use of sound and its multiple layers, it prompted me to think of the band The Avalanches, specifically their song ‘Frontier Psychiatrist’. The multiple layers found in this song, and The Avalanche’s ability to take pieces from podcasts, movies etc, and remix them into such a catchy (and frankly one of my favourite) songs really pushes me towards how I, personally, envision project brief four to turn out like. I love the fact that while the song feels manic and when listening you don’t quite know what’s happening, it has its own flow and by the final few moments, you’re drawn in, wanting to figure it all out and listen again.
