The ‘No Edit’ | Exercise

Last week’s key activity was to create a short based around ‘the pursuit’- with the constraint that everything must be edited in camera. What this means is, no post production editing, one shot, and the shots must be in order. This week, we watched them all.

Of course, when making this piece, it made for a lot of pre-production planning. My group initially struggled with coming up with a concept outside of a murderer chasing someone (which to be fair, I think we actually did kind of end up going with in the end come to think of it). After coming up with the idea of ghost hunters, we really noticed how important storyboarding would be for this task and really just knowing how we were going to tell our story.

One thing I really found difficult was when filming, having to communicate when the camera was rolling without having your voice captured at the beginning of the shot, but also pressing play while the actor was in motion so that between shots it didn’t look disjointed.

Overall, I think that we pulled together to produce a neat little piece of work.
