This week’s group exercise was to create a one-shot short film, a short film that’s entirely filmed in one shot, based on the idea of ‘misunderstanding’.
Through watching others prepare and then researching full-length feature films that have also only used one shot throughout, I’ve really learnt the importance of pre-production work. One small mistake (especially towards the end of the video) and it means that everything has to be reshot. While it only meant that we had to spend another 2-3 minutes of reshooting, in the context of a feature-length film, this could mean millions of dollars in production fees, as well as a significant more amount of time.
