Casting

This bit is always a bit of a hassle, finding someone who fits the role you’ve written, whose timetable fits well into your schedule, and will be at least somewhat committed to the project. And when you’ve written the script, you really want the character to look exactly how you imagined when you created them. But when you’re on a low budget with a limited amount of time, some sacrifices have to be made. So far, we’ve got one person in mind who would suit one of the male roles (and actually pretty well, now that I think about it), and we’re hoping to find someone to play the other male role, so that we can at least have a first rehearsal and possible shoot within the week. Originally, we were planning to try out StarNow, but fellow group member, Cody, suggested that we move away from that. With our limited amount of time, and our reliance on each cast member needing to be there, it’s way too risky to cast someone we don’t know we can trust. If even one of them pulls a no-show, we’d be fucked. He suggested that we instead go to people that we know well, and can trust (which can be both beneficial, and disadvantageous at the same time). On one hand, we can trust them, we know them well and so morale on the set would be positive, but on the other hand, it’s easy to get distracted, and it may be more difficult co-ordinating the acting. So, as long as everyone knows that we have to be extremely productive on set and in rehearsal, we should be fine.
