Video Games are a Good Way to Lose Money

Notice how I said ‘good’. Yeah, it’s an expensive hobby, but there is a reason that gaming is such a popular media. So, what I’m basically saying is, if you’re going to lose money, lose it on games.

I just thought I’d write a quick blog post video gaming since it’s the main research point on my project brief 4. And with the sudden burst of releases within these next few months, I’ve really been struggling to resist the temptation to play instead of work on my media stuff.

So, I just blew my money on the new Ratchet and Clank a couple of weeks ago, but then straight after, I placed pre-orders on Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, and Final Fantasy 15 (which I have literally been waiting for since they released the first trailer back in 2007). I was waiting for the train in Melbourne central on the way home from Uni today, and I noticed an ad on the screens for Uncharted 4, announcing its release today. Of course, this means that I have to go and get myself a copy now. And while I’m at it, I might place a pre-order on Doom and Dishonored 2, because, why not? Yeah, I’m not good with this whole money thing. But any other gamers understand me, right? Because of the massive community that has spawned from this particular media?
