FACT AND FABRICATION

When it came time to vote, Australians struggled to discern fact from fabrication.

Presenting an opportunity to recognise and represent the First Peoples of Australia in parliament by establishing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, the referendum ultimately did not pass, with only 39.9% of legal votes in favour of the change.

Former journalist Sushi Das believes disinformation produced and utilised by campaigners may have impacted the outcome of the referendum.

FACT AND FABRICATION is a 5 minute documentary which explores the pervasive nature of disinformation in online spaces, alongside the anecdotal evidence of a professional fact checker.

In producing this work, we learned many skills in the pre and post-production process. We gained experience in sound recording, lighting, and video recording, as well as sound mixing and video editing.
