PARTING
Selina and Kyra are two girls who have made different choices for their future as they face graduation season; Selina chooses to stay and continue her studies while Kyra returns to her hometown to participate in the workforce. As they part ways, they are both saddened by each other. After exchanging pleasantries before departure, they part ways. This short film is a reflection of the life of most international students.
My creation focuses more on ‘coverage’ and ‘decoupage’ in our studio, using different camera sizes to fully show the development of the story and the emotional changes of the characters. In pre-shooting, I ‘decoupage’ the script I have written, designing these specific shots for each part and the sequence of these shots. And in my project ‘PARTING’, I was able to show the focus of our studio very well. To be able to sense I can feel that I’m conveying the emotions of the characters and the core of the story through these techniques, and show the level of professionalism and attention to detail that we have in our studio.
I explored the emphasis in our studio by making a short film with a storyline. During the production process, I got to know more about ‘coverage’ and ‘decoupage’. Of course, there is more to it than just that, such as the control of the camera and the design of the actors’ eye lines. These experiences will enable me to be better equipped for future media productions.
