(A couple of us are missing!!)
On Opening Night (June 4th) our class had arrived to the venue (The Capitol) around 2pm to get started with rehearsals and setting up any equipment. While the doors open to the public opened at 6pm we also came in early to download the videos for them to be played later in the night and so we wouldn’t have to rely on wifi which eliminates a potential obstacle during the night.
Opening night had a huge outcome, we many people upgrading to VIP, buying merch, food and drinks. We had continuous posts on Instagram to track online users. The theatre was packed with many seats filling up with guests, and RMIT staff and students. To me Opening night was very busy since the morning, I would say all of us were nervous and anxious as the time comes closer to 6. From 2pm we had started setting-up equipment for the venue to making stills for the venue screens, printing and purchasing last minute items, we have prepared everything and we were ready just before 6pm. We also had a team meeting to debrief everything before the event starts to ensure everyone is on the same page with everything to ensure that tonight was going to be a good night!
This night was important to us as we planned, organised and advertised this night to the public, very hard as we planned opening night as the biggest event compared to the other two days. Overall, opening night was successful!! the night ran smoothly and everyone was very attentive and communicative with each other. Everyone took multiple jobs to help balance any stress anyone might carry. In the end the whole night was very successful, all the films were shown smoothly, the VIP area was also very successful as the food was delicious, the drinks were free and everyone was mingling around with the different studios.
