In my 3 edits, I made it a mission to try and successfully execute a new transition that I have not used. Fortunately, it worked out pretty well, I got to use new transitions such as whip/pan, zoom and masking transitions. I got to practice my audio editing; search for music and sound effects and adjusting the volumes. I got to practice colour grading scenes; the curve is an amazing tool. Lastly, cutting videos and getting my brain worked up creatively, thinking of different shots and angles to shoot.

While filming my own edits I got to understand the intention behind each shot, like, close up shot to build tension, wide shot creates settings and unique shots like dutch shot can create confusion. All different types of shot have intention behind that builds and support a scene for audience to fully emerge themselves into the film.

This assignment gave me the opportunity to explore different film shots, styles and settings, as well as genre. It has helped me to improve and practice transitions, colour grading and audio mixing, and overall honed my skills in editing.
